JAKE SCHUMAN | Owner
With 15 years of experience in the outdoor industry, Jake is a third-generation Schuman entrepreneur. His journey into business management began in 2014 when he started a property maintenance company with his father. At JDX, Jake oversees all operational and administrative aspects, including front-line customer communication, estimating, invoicing, and scheduling. Born and raised in Rising Sun, Jake now resides there with Dani. He has a passion for cooking, grilling, and caring for his four beloved pets. Jake also enjoys traveling and cheering for the Baltimore Ravens. Grateful to have started a business with his best friend, Jake is dedicated to making JDX Construction a success.

DANI BROWN | Owner
Dani is the strategic force behind JDX Construction, expertly managing administrative tasks and logistics. She handles email communications, oversees social media, and takes charge of public relations and networking to expand our business connections and enhance customer satisfaction. As the backbone of the company, Dani turns Jake’s ideas into reality with her exceptional organizational skills and vision. Beyond her critical role in the business, Dani is Jake’s soulmate, and best friend. She is also a full-time paramedic for the Department of Defense, a devoted pet parent to two dogs and two cats, and enjoys reading, hiking, and exploring new places.

GAVIN APPEL | Operations Manager
Gavin has been a trusted colleague of Jake’s for over 15 years and now leads the day-to-day operations at JDX Construction. With more than 20 years of hands-on landscaping experience, Gavin combines deep industry knowledge with a sharp eye for detail. As Operations Manager, he oversees crew coordination and quality control—ensuring every project meets our high standards. Known for being the first to arrive and the last to leave, Gavin sets the tone for hard work and reliability. Outside of work, he’s a dedicated family man with four amazing kids. He enjoys spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and has a lifelong passion for cars and trucks.

GAVIN | Crew Member, Mowing Division
Gavin is a full-time crew member who plays a key role on our mowing team. Originally from Conowingo and currently attending Cecil College, Gavin brings a love for the outdoors to every property he works on. Whether it's keeping lawns looking sharp or lending a hand with seasonal cleanups, Gavin is always ready to jump in. Outside of work, he enjoys watching sports, hiking, hunting, and fishing, and values time spent with his family. His passion for nature and being active makes him a great fit for the JDX crew.
HUNTER | Crew Member, Mowing Division
Hunter is a member of our mowing crew and a proud Cecil County native. Born and raised in the area, he brings a strong sense of local pride and a solid work ethic to every job. With a background in farming and a natural love for being outdoors, Hunter thrives on the mower and takes pride in keeping properties looking their best. Whether it's early mornings or hot summer days, you’ll find him out in the field doing what he does best—cutting clean lines and making lawns shine.
DERICK (RICK) | Crew Member, Landscape Division
With over six years of landscaping experience, Derick—known to the team as
Rick—brings both skill and creativity to the JDX landscape division. A true
outdoorsman at heart, he’s rarely found inside unless he’s asleep. Rick holds a
BBA in Business Administration and an APICS CPIM certification, blending technical
knowledge with hands-on expertise. Outside of work, he enjoys woodworking, small
engine repair, and crafting unique yard art. He’s a proud father of four, grandfather
of two, and shares his home with two dogs, an opossum, and even a spider monkey
named Ateles. A Scorpio through and through, Rick brings passion and precision to
everything he does.
ETHAN | Crew Member, Landscape Division
Born in Bel Air and raised in Conowingo, Ethan brings a strong work ethic and a love
for the outdoors to the JDX Landscaping Crew. With a deep appreciation for hands-on
work, he thrives in the field—whether he's shaping landscapes, building hardscapes,
or helping create the kind of outdoor spaces that make a lasting impression.

Ethan is a proud stepfather and a dedicated family man who enjoys spending his free
time doing what he calls “good old-fashioned redneck activities”—from off-roading to
bonfires and everything in between. He’s all about hard work, good laughs, and
making things better with his own two hands. We're proud to have Ethan on our
team, bringing not only skill and reliability, but the kind of genuine, grounded
energy that defines JDX.
